Privacy Policy

RoleEcho (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the RoleEcho mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the App on Apple App Store and Google Play devices.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to the RoleEcho App available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. RoleEcho is a communication practice tool that provides AI-assisted role-play scenarios, feedback reports, and related features. The App does not require you to create an account.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may process the following categories of information:

2.1 Information You Provide

Practice content. Text you type during dialogue training, and text transcripts generated from speech you choose to record.
Preferences. Settings such as language, appearance, and training goals you select in the App.
Support communications. If you contact us by email (for example, through the in-app feedback link), we receive the content of your message and your email address.

2.2 Information Stored on Your Device

Local practice records. Session history, scores, reports, quotas, and subscription status indicators stored locally on your device.
Voice recordings (optional). If you use the microphone feature, temporary voice files may be cached on your device to support transcription. These files remain on your device and are designed to expire after a limited period (currently up to seven days).
Local device identifier. A randomly generated on-device identifier used to manage local preferences and usage limits. It is not used to create a user account or public profile.

2.3 Information Processed to Provide AI Features

When you use AI dialogue or analysis features, relevant practice content (such as scenario context and conversation messages needed to generate a reply or report) is transmitted securely to our cloud API so that we can generate responses and feedback. We design this processing to be functional and not to build advertising profiles.

2.4 Permissions

Microphone. Used only if you choose voice input, to capture audio for transcription of your practice response.
Speech recognition. Used to convert spoken practice into text for the dialogue session.

You may deny or revoke these permissions in your device settings. The App can still be used with typed text if voice features are unavailable.

2.5 Purchase and Subscription Information

If you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by Apple or Google (as applicable). We do not receive your full payment card details. We may receive limited purchase or entitlement information (such as product identifiers, transaction identifiers, and subscription status) needed to unlock paid features and verify entitlement.

2.6 Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

We do not require name, postal address, or government ID to use the core App.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use the App content to serve third-party behavioral advertising.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

Provide, operate, and improve RoleEcho features, including role-play dialogue, scoring, reports, history, and achievements;
Process optional voice input into text for practice sessions;
Manage free usage limits and subscription entitlements;
Respond to support requests;
Maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot technical issues;
Comply with applicable law and platform (Apple / Google) requirements.

4. Legal Bases

Where required by applicable law (including the GDPR), we process personal data on one or more of the following bases:

Contract / service delivery: to provide the features you request;
Legitimate interests: to secure and improve the App, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights;
Consent: where required for optional permissions (such as microphone access) or certain processing;
Legal obligation: where processing is necessary to comply with law.

We may share information only as described below:

Service providers / processors. Cloud infrastructure and AI model providers that process practice content solely to generate dialogue replies and analysis on our behalf. These providers are instructed to process data for service delivery and not for unrelated advertising.
Apple and Google. Purchase, restore, and subscription verification are handled through Apple App Store / StoreKit and Google Play Billing, subject to their respective privacy policies and terms.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or others.
Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred subject to appropriate protections.

We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined under U.S. state privacy laws.

6. Data Retention

On-device data. Practice history, preferences, reports, and related local data remain on your device until you delete them in the App, clear App data, or uninstall the App. History storage may be subject to on-device limits.
Voice cache. Temporary voice files stored on device are intended to expire after a short period (currently up to seven days) and can also be removed when you clear cache or delete records.
AI request processing. Content sent to our API for dialogue or report generation is processed to fulfill your request. We do not operate a user account cloud archive of your full conversation history as part of the current product design.
Support emails. Retained as needed to respond to your inquiry and for legitimate business records.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) for network communications with our API. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for controlling physical access to your device and for using device-level protections (such as passcode or biometric lock).

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete such information where required.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Within the App, you may typically:

Export local records (where the export feature is available);
Delete local practice records and clear cached data;
Manage microphone and speech permissions in system settings;
Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.

10. International Transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. Where required, we take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. App Store and Play Store Purchases

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are billed by Apple or Google under their terms. Refunds, billing disputes, and subscription management are handled through Apple or Google according to their policies. Our use of purchase-related identifiers is limited to providing and verifying paid features.

13. Changes to This Policy
